Tubing is not extruded with very tight tolerances. Not to deflate your balloons but that tubing has far to thin walls to through bolt without taking other precautions. By the way there is a light weight aluminum frame work avail that used driven in plastic connectors. It is made of a material that can be worked with ordinary hand tools; it can be easily cut and drilled. The carriages are based on the DeltaPi.

It turns out that that size is not made anymore. I cut it up in to 4 and 5 inch pieces and used to hold a frame work in my lanai and they worked great.
