When choosing a chainsaw chain, you first need to know the pitch, the gauge and the number of drive links. There are three basic measurements needed to determine the replacement chain. They come in full chisel, semi chisel and low profile chains, with each being used for different tasks. If the chain is too loose, it can come off the bar, which can be seriously dangerous given how fast it will be spinning.
