As for a formula, if you're using Color Sync, you could use half 7N and half 7A after lightening to both tone and also deal with the grey hair. So many blue and green options, which is best? The natural will add depth in to darken the grey hair properly, whilst the ash still tones the warmth out.

I watched a few YouTube videos where they explained that to lift more than 2 shades you need to use 30 vol.developer, so I did.
Ash is the coolest shade available, followed by pearl, which is like a softer version of ash. And bleached the roots to match. You need to wait for at least 14 days between two bleaching sessions. Not a nice grey. The problem with using a light ash brown is that the ash tone is strong and can become too dominant when applied to a lighter colour. It was charcoal gray with blue and green. It will also tell you the dominant tones present in the color that give the shade its actual appearance. If you wanted a natural shade, for example, you would be better off using an ash or natural ash blend to reach your desired color. You can get all of this in any hairdressing shop and/or pharmacy.
