tinman, Be real careful blasting the Cab! Remove the screwed on viewing glass frame and attach it with magnetic strips. I dump my Black Diamond in a 5 gal bucket and trail a 50ft air hose out in the yard with a couple saw horses to sit the fender, hood, rims, etc on and blast away. You'll have a hard time containing the sand indoors. I cannot speak to the glass beads as a media choice. I dried the air with a 5 gallon bucket of ice with a copper section of my air line coiled up in it and it solved my clogging issues during the hot humid summer months. Are they any good?

I have seen a few that got Blasted and there wasn't enough left to scrap out. I can blast pretty good for a few minutes, then pause to let the compressor catch up. I use 90 lbs of pressure from my 80 gallon 2 stage 140lb pressure air compressor with water seperator. Do any of you think this could handle the job? I want to blast the cab. I don't have a HF tank blaster, but I did add a vibrator to my 30X48 blast cabinet. Much less cycling of his compressor and great results blasting. What size compressor do I need with this? As mentioned with the smaller compressors you quickly dump the tank and all the air you have is what the compressor is putting out and you just cant remove much like that, having to wait for the tank to build back up and get another short bit of use.

Just wondering if the gun is the issue or the nut at the trigger is to blame. For the larger items I use a a setup similar to this 'siphon' system. A lot of sandblaster problems come down to damp media. The guy makes a number of upgrades for HF blast cabinets.

If you regulate with the gun valve it will wear quickly as stated earlier. I made similar improvements to my blaster and you're right, you can get them to flow a lot better. The dust you create blasting makes it impossible to see your work. You need to cover up, the TSC media has no silica but I still wear a non hardner respirrator , goggles, cap, shirt and end up with sand in my ears and clothing. I use aluminum oxide in mine. A few $$ in hardware store parts and a Saturday afternoon later and this thing is right up there with some of the $400 blasters! Haven't broke my HF blaster out of the box yet but will mod mine too. It's always a good idea too screen your media, chunks, small tears of bag will clog too. But the next professional one up cost a lot of $$. I have one and it works fine with the fine blasting media from TSC -red bag. A blue HF tarp on the ground, 200 sq ft of 1mm thick plastic drop cloth ($3 at Home Depot) stapled to 1" strapping which is attached to the fence and the tool shed wall keeps 95% of the blasting media contained. I have to remove and replace the pans so I did not bother blasting them completely. Been there, done that, lesson learned. I got tired of blasting for 2 minutes then spending 30 minutes unclogging everything! I have used one of these and I offer the following suggestions: 1. With my 20% off coupon it was about $109. I used medium grit sand from Home Depot, filtered thru window screen. If you spread it out on a tarp and put it out in the sun for a while it will dry out and feed much better.
