The midsole runs similar to the hyperburst of the SKechers Razor 3. When I first put them on, I was surprised by how firm they feltbut once I started running in them, they felt great. Speaking of fit, some of our favorite shoes are the Brooks Ghost and Brooks Glycerin for trainers and the Brooks Hyperion Tempo for workouts or speed work.

These offer protection during footstrike but prioritize a lightweight, grounded experience. 41yr - male - 170lb - typically 40-50mpw - these shoes used for road runs. These types of shoes provide abundant impact protection that softens landings while running at any pace or distance. The upper could use a tad more flexibility in the fabric. The shoe has a thick midsole and ample cushioning. I've run everything from slow to moderate to track intervals to tempo and the Hyperion feels good at all. Superior to ZF and far more fun to run in than Clifton. The effective system here that isn't fancy. Particularly on uphills the weight difference is noticeable in the Tempo's favor (roughly an ounce lighter). Try it on first if you can. They are very light weight for the level of cushion/protection they provide, and as they've broken in a bit the upper just fits like a glove - snug everywhere without being tight anywhere. Great lightweight, roomy, bouncy racer/trainer.
What I wasn't anticipating was how well the upper fits. They tested them against the Pegasus Turbo and for me I prefer them as they have 2mm more cushion in the front and same at the back with the same weight and a wider midfoot. Our goal race will be the Hartford Half Marathon on Saturday 10/8/22. The bouncing and response is so so.
Order with confidence. The combination of response, secure fit, and lightness really helped me push the tempo for my training runs. If your schedule is ahead of the groups, we also ask that you dont encourage other runners to run longer distances than what is prescribed in their training plan. Makes running fun. In an effort to gain lighter weight and speed, Brooks chose to not have minimum to none, outer-layered rubber. If you don't like it, return it for free! Every run, from short to long, fast to slow, feels effortless.
The magic is in the responsive foam that allowed for a seem less transition from 13 miles on Sunday near marathon pace to easy 5 mi on Monday to speed day repeats on Tuesday. I have two pair. The foam feels like it's the same throughout the run, and the outside rubber is the perfect thickness that contributes to the firmness and longevity of the shoe (compared to Rincon, Beacon). The laces are stretchy and take a bit of getting use to but I was able to achieve a good lockdown and feel more stable than in the previously mentioned Nikes. Strength Session: Thursdays at 6:30 pm at River Valley Arts Center in Wappingers Falls starting on 7/21 (please note that sessions may be at a different location starting in September).
After a couple runs I don't notice the wider forefoot. They are so stretchy as to be almost unusable - very hard to get a good lockdown in these.

When my foot started to hurt only in these after about 30 total miles I retired them. The midsole here is fantastic. What if I want to train with the group but I am doing a different race?This is absolutely fine but you will be responsible for modifying your training plan to meet your specific needs. It's a bit on the pricey side, but should hold up well given the construction, so I'm expecting 200+ miles of joy out of it. Can not say enough about this shoe. Cause I am careless and I had the $. ad watched reviews saying these were soft underfoot and responsive but I found them too firm ( I do not like squishy either but found these the other end of the scale). Beautifully light, breathable upper, w/ a perfectly cushioned but firmer ride. He loves all "Brooks" but these are his favorite. Take it for a 90-day trial run. Will definitely buy it again. If I could make a suggestion to Brooks it would be to lower the drop to 4-6mm (maybe add more cushioning to the forefoot? Does not seem to get a ton of press but they are incredible for me.
